EXCERPT

“Come here,” he commands.
I do what he asks, stepping forward until he holds up his hand.
I’m right in front of him now, and he’s still sitting there like a greedy bastard, taking me in like I’m fine wine or something, and fuck me, it’s making me blush even harder.
Why does Marcello have this effect on me?
He fucked me like I was some kind of sex doll, and I still fawn over him like he’s the only lover I’ve ever had. Not that I’ve ever had this kind of explosive sex before.
His hand reaches for my hip, and he pulls me even closer. “You know … I’ve thought about my behavior these past couple of days, and I realize I’ve been pushing you too much into a corner,” he says, sliding my nightgown up until the pink, completely see-through panties he put in my wardrobe on purpose are exposed. “I fucked you like an animal without thinking of your needs. I was blinded by my desire to own you. But I know you’re more precious than that, kitten.”
He raises the fabric like a shroud until my belly button is exposed too, and then he leans forward and places a kiss just below it, right on my pelvic bone. It’s such a gentle, sweet, succulent kiss I almost melt away into a puddle.
“But you’ve misbehaved quite a lot as well,” he groans as he pulls back and looks up at me with darkened, hooded eyes. “And as my pet, you have to learn your place.”
I suck in a breath as he gets up from the couch, towering over me like some kind of beast. He pulls the straps of my nightgown down my shoulder until they fall and the delicate fabric pools at my feet. He caresses my naked breasts with the palms of his hands until both my nipples are peaked, and he can rub them between his fingers. My lips part to make an o-shape as I struggle to keep in the moan of delight.
I can’t give him that. I can’t give him my pleasure, too.
But he makes it so fucking hard.
He twists my nipples and tugs at them, and right then, when a moan tumbles over my lips, he covers my mouth with his, drinking the sound of my pleasure.
My eyes flash open as he kisses me softly, tender at first, as though he’s trying to find out whether I like it or hate it. I don’t know the answer as I’m overcome by the sheer shock of this mobster boss kissing me as if I actually mean something to him. But within seconds, he kisses me more greedily, hungrily, as though he can’t get enough.
It feels so fucking good my resolve is on the verge of failing me. I could sink into this kiss… let him have his way with me… admit how badly I want it, too…
But I can’t let him overtake me. I can’t let him win.
So I bite his lip.
He instantly jerks back, blood seeping from the wound he touches with his thumb. The devious look on his face doesn’t falter as he wipes off the blood and sucks it off his thumb.
“Don’t be so catty, kitten,” he murmurs. “We’re only getting started.”
He grabs my throat and squeezes, not hard but not gently either. I don’t grasp at his fingers. I stay put, defiant as always. He smiles. Then his other hand grazes my pussy, playing with the fabric of the panties until wetness seeps through.
“See? You like it,” he says, a smirk appearing on his face.
RIIIIIP!
I can’t help but shriek as he rips the panties off my body.
Then he sits down and pulls me over his lap. I don’t know how it happens, it’s all going so fast, but one moment, I was still standing, and the next, he has his hand all over my bare ass.
SMACK!
I moan out loud.
“That’s for thinking of killing me at the gym.”
Did he see me pocket the broken piece of mirror?
Another smack follows on the other cheek. It burns.
“That’s for trying to steal documents that don’t belong to you.”
He spanks me again on both cheeks until they’re red, and I moan out loud.
“And that’s for spitting in my face and biting me.”
One more on both, and I’m panting and clenching my legs at the same time. Each smack reverberates into my pussy, causing deliciously sweet ripples of ecstasy I can’t control.
“And that’s because I like it,” he groans, and with the palm of his hand, he massages the spots he just hit. “You’ve been a naughty kitten. Tempting me. Persuading me to come to your room.”
“I didn’t do anything—”
Another spanking has me swallowing my words.
“If you want something, you’ve got to work for it. Now work for it, kitten. Show me how badly you want my cock … and maybe I’ll give it to you.”

EXCERPT

A fling, a moment of weakness, a fond memory, those were the things Jacob Karolsson was supposed to be. He was supposed to stay in her goddamn fantasy and in fucking Montana.
Okay, one time. There was one time she’d allow him into Ohio. The rally. She’d concede that. He could come for the rally and she would avoid it like the plague. It shouldn’t be too hard. It was good to have a plan.
“You got any Jameson back there?” he asked once the crowd practically parted for him to walk to the bar. The whiteness of his teeth was a stark contrast to his dark beard as he put his elbows on the bar top, smiled, and leaned over it.
Frozen in place, Sparrow looked him over as though she wasn’t sure he was real. Enforcer. Blinking at him, she realized he’d gotten an officer position. When her gaze made it to his light blue eyes, she stuffed the lollipop in her mouth.
Jesus Christ those eyes.
Something jabbed her in the side, and the trance was broken. The hum of conversation over Aerosmith rushed to her ears, and she turned to see Kimber holding a bottle of Jameson, and peering at her questionably. Caught staring at him like a high school girl with a crush. Could she be any more pathetic?
Taking it, she offered a smile to Kimber first and then looked to Jacob. Still grinning, he seemed to have added a bit of smugness to it. Clearing her throat, she half-filled a lowball glass and placed it on a napkin for him.
Placing a twenty on the bar, he reached for his glass, allowing his digits to graze hers. Fire danced up her fingers, over her hand, and through her arm. She should have yanked her hand back. She should have looked away from him. She shouldn’t have turned into a puddle where she stood.
“Thank you,” he mouthed before pulling the glass away from her and bringing it to his lips.
Could someone sip whiskey sexily? Was it possible? It shouldn’t be. As much as she wanted to fan herself, she couldn’t. So, she did the next best thing. “You got this?” She may have asked Kimber the question, but she had no intention of staying for the answer.
“No! Wait, I…” Kimber’s voice trailed off as Sparrow made her way out the door of the bar. Dick move. She knew it, but if the woman knew what the hell it was about, she’d understand. Anyone who had any inkling of what had gone on between Sparrow and Jacob would understand why she’d just fled the bar.
The cool Ohio air chilled her heated skin as she walked along the side of the cinderblock building, heading for the back parking lot. She just needed to walk to her car and to drive away from all of it. It was too real.
Her car. Fuck. She didn’t have her car.
As the realization hit, she turned, and her back pressed against the bricks. Closing her eyes, her head hit the wall. She needed to figure out a way to handle these little pop-ups.
“I’m going to have to buy you a new shirt.” The deep timbre of his voice heated her just as much as the memory of his touch did.
“Why are you here?” she demanded without looking. The accusation in her tone wasn’t on purpose, but it was too late now. It’d been said.
The heat of his body close to hers tickled her skin. She might as well have been set on fire at the feel of his hands on her face. Before she could stop herself, she nuzzled into his palm. He made her lose her fucking head with the slightest of touches.
“Do you mean Ohio or the bar?” he whispered in her ear when he brushed his bearded cheek against hers. It looked coarse, but his facial hair was impossibly soft. The feel of it had her face tingling as much as his breath along her neck.

“Beautiful,” he says.

It’s one word, but it caresses me like velvet, my insides purring at his approval. “You too.”

He smirks. “You think I’m beautiful?”

His tone is playful, and it ignites that same foreign fire from the first night we met, when I wondered what it would feel like to be a different type of Wendy. My eyebrow quirks. “What, you think a man can’t have beauty?”

“A man can have many things, darling.” He steps in closer. “But the only beauty I hope to have tonight is yours.”

My stomach flips, butterflies bursting like a cannon. “Your mouth should be illegal,” I mutter. “So… where are you taking me?”

Angie laughs. “Who cares where he’s taking you, girl? Just go.” She makes a shooing motion with her hands.

James glances her way before resting his palm on my lower back. “She’s right, you know. You should relax, let me wine and dine you properly.” He leans in, his lips skimming the top of my ear. “And if you’re a good girl, maybe I’ll show you the real reason why my mouth should be illegal.”

Heat floods my body, swirling through my insides and pulsing between my legs. I huff out a surprised breath, my fingers pushing against his chest. “That’s extremely presumptuous.”

His eyes sparkle, his hand never leaving my back as he moves me toward the door. “Just letting you know what’s on the menu.”

He leads me outside to a blacked-out Audi. My hand reaches to grasp the handle, but before I can, he’s there, opening the door and helping me in. My heart skips. Such a simple gesture, but one that makes me feel special. Taken care of.

“I feel like I should be offended,” I say as he slides into the driver’s seat.

He grins, starting the car but leaving it idle as he twists to look at me. “Why?”

“You just told me to be a good girl, and you’d… you know.”

His brow rises. “I’m not sure I do.” He moves quickly, leaning over the console, his body crowding me until I press back against the seat. He skims his nose up my neck, and my stomach cramps so tight I lose my breath. “Because I want to put my mouth on you?” His lips dance from my ear down my jaw until they’re hovering above mine. My heart slams against my chest. I am so out of my element. “I promise you’d like it,” he whispers.

And just like that, his body heat disappears as he moves to his side of the car and reverses out of the lot.

EXCERPT

“You’re sorry?” The deep husky voice came from behind. Jolting, she dropped her apron in startled surprise. With her hand over her chest, trying to keep her heart from bursting through it pounded so hard, she turned.
Unprepared for what she saw, her mouth fell open and her heart lodged in her throat.
She didn’t immediately recognize him. For the first few seconds, all she saw was his height and facial hair. It wasn’t until she scanned up to his eyes. Those glacier-colored pools. She’d never forget them. The light blue irises burned as they bored into her.
The mohawk was gone. In its place, thick dark hair hung just past his chin. Or where she thought his chin would be. He wore a full beard trimmed neatly. It hid the beautiful features she remembered from his youth. Oh, his chin dimple. The little divot she wanted to poke so badly when he was a kid couldn’t be seen.
“Jacob?” she whispered, and her heart resumed its rapid beats for a completely new reason. Was it really him or just another dream of them meeting up again? If she moved, he might disappear. She might wake up. So, she stood perfectly still, staring at him.
He kept his distance, just inside the back room, with the door closed behind him. Muffled rock music came through the walls, along with inaudible conversations from the few patrons of the bar. However, in that room, the heavy silence weighed her down.
In her dreams, he’d speak, but often so softly, she barely heard him. Licking her bottom lip, she worried she’d forgotten his true voice. Then again, would he sound the same seven years later? She willed him to speak, silently pleading with him to say something, anything, just to hear him again. What he’d said before, when she had her back to him, it didn’t count. She wasn’t paying attention. She didn’t know it was him. She did now. He had her full attention. If he would just speak.
Instead, he remained stock-still. His tall, lean body blocked the only exit, but she didn’t feel trapped. If anything, there was far too much space between them. As though her feet were cemented to the floor, unable to move, she took the opportunity to assess him. The grown version of him.
Starting at his feet, scuffed motorcycle boots made her grin. She’d imagined him riding the long hours from Montana to Ohio with the wind ripping through the bit of hair that escaped the bottom of his helmet.
Loose-fitting, faded jeans were torn at his left knee with a chain attached to his belt loop. The left side of her mouth curled upward in an involuntary half grin as she spotted the small—considering he was from Montana, home to many a cowboy—belt buckle.
He wore a faded Metallica t-shirt, which he’d loosely tucked into his jeans. Over it, as was the tradition for every biker, was his cut. Those leather vests were a second skin, only coming off to sleep, and that was if they didn’t pass out first.
She took a moment to appreciate his club’s little patches. Some were standard, like the four F’s he had on his side. Every club had a version of it. She guessed he stood for “Fury forever, forever Fury.” Her father’s was RFFR which stood for “Roughnecks forever, forever Roughnecks.” The diamond on his left shoulder with “1%” in it was far too familiar. His club was an outlaw club, too.
The American Motorcyclist Association commented forever ago that 99% of motorcyclists were law-abiding citizens, the implication being the last one percent were outlaws. It became a badge of honor to clubs like the Roughneck Riders and, apparently, Odin’s Fury.
Beneath his outlaw patch, a “Member” tag was stitched under his road name: Romeo. Immediately that half-smile she had for his belt buckle dropped. Heat flamed in her cheeks. What did that mean? A spike of irrational jealousy rippled through her. The idea of him earning a reputation for seducing women had her clenching her jaw, despite knowing it was a ridiculous reaction.
“Why’d you stop writing?” His voice sounded restrained.
His question, his voice—deeper than she remembered, yanked her out of her insecurity. She had no business caring. She had no claim on him. He wanted to be Romeo, some Lothario biker thinking he’s God’s gift to women, let him. It wasn’t any skin off her nose.
Pulling the lollipop from her mouth, she lifted her chin and took a deep breath. “My dad died.” She hadn’t said those words in a few years. She didn’t get out and mingle all that often—pretty much stuck with the Roughneck Riders family and they all knew. Ducky Oliveira died for his club.

EXCERPT

I bang on the door for several minutes before a short woman opens it.
“Hello,” she greets me in a thick accent. “Can I help you?”
“Hi, is Maverick home?” I tap my foot, too agitated to keep still.
“He’s not available.”
I grind my teeth, losing patience fast. “Would you mind checking at least?”
She nervously glances over her shoulder. “He asked not to be disturbed.”
“It’s important,” I grit out. “I need five minutes, tops.”
“I’m sorry,” she says regretfully. “Come back later.”
“I’m not going anywhere until I talk to Maverick.”
I force my way into the foyer and dash up the stairs. The woman follows behind me, begging me to stop. I barge into the first bedroom, no Maverick. Second one, still no sign of my nemesis. The third, and bingo. I find the devil incarnate lying in bed.
The woman latches on to my arm. “Por favor, you must go,” she says breathlessly, trying to pull me out of the room.
“It’s fine, Maria,” Maverick says, rubbing his drowsy eyes. “You can go.”
The door closes with a definitive click. Now that I’m here, my mind is drawing a blank. Maverick swings his legs over the side of the bed. The sheet falls to his waist, exposing his smooth muscular chest. Thick veins bulge along his ripped arms, and those abs must be made of steel. Sleep-ruffled hair triples his appeal. He’s sexiness personified.
Focus, Cocoa!
So what, he has a hot body… he’s still a miscreant.
“Why didn’t you come to school?”
“No reason.” He shrugs.
“You selfish prick,” I snarl, outrage unfurling in my belly. “Mr. Barnes gave us until tomorrow to do our presentation, so—”
“You’re either brave or incredibly stupid to come here.”
My anger clouded my common sense. I’m in his bedroom, for God’s sake, and I highly doubt Maria will come to my rescue if I call out for help. I’m at his mercy.
“I’m not afraid of you,” I lie through my teeth.
“Yeah, you are,” he states matter-of-factly. “I’m adept at recognizing fear. Right now, you’re in fight-or-flight mode. Stay and I’ll gain the upper hand in seconds. I can do whatever I want to you”—his gaze slowly moves to the juncture of my thighs—“and you’d be powerless to stop me. Yet, running equals weakness, and that’s a shortcoming you’re too stubborn to show, even if it means self-preservation. It’s your downfall.”
He stands, revealing his glorious nudity. I inhale a sharp breath. My gaze zeros in on his defined V-line, then roams lower to his well-endowed cock. It curves to the right, a trait I didn’t notice during our scuffle at school a couple weeks ago. My nether region pulsates, betraying me, as usual.
“Like what you see?” He smirks, amusement in his tone. “You’re welcome to touch it.”
My face heats in embarrassment. “You better be in physics tomorrow at eight sharp.”
I turn, intent on making a dignified exit after being caught gawking at his dangling bits.
Maverick lunges at me and seizes my curly tresses in a painful hold. “Did you really think it’d be that easy?”

I left our hometown—a place she once called paradise—when we were just a couple of dirt poor teenagers. I left to flee the aftermath of a horrifying event that completely broke us. And now, ten years later, I’m going back to face the wreckage that I thought I’d put behind me—my father’s gruesome legacy, the trauma of our past, and the girl who survived it all without me by her side.

She hates me now for leaving her behind and I don’t blame her.
I don’t blame her, but I want her.
I want her, even though I know I should stay away from her.

I could be dangerous.
I am my father’s son, after all.

Content Warning: This book contains brief scenes of violence and is premised around a theme of trauma and healing. Some parts may be triggering to some readers—discretion is advised.

EXCERPT

“What did you wish for?” he asks, picking the candle from the cupcake and licking the frosting off the end.

I’m momentarily distracted by the way he sucks the end of it into his mouth. My heart skips a beat and butterflies flap their wings like crazy as my mind drifts. I shouldn’t be thinking about my best friend’s tongue licking frosting off things…and places.

I shake my head and take the cupcake from his hand, working to peel the wrapper off as I turn forward to look at the mountain sunset. “You know I can’t tell you that. Then it won’t come true.”

He moves to sit beside me, hip to hip, with our legs dangling over the edge. He sets the candle down on the dirt beside him and pulls the hood of his sweatshirt up before shoving his hands into the pockets. I don’t know why he wears hoodies in the summer—it’s scorching hot until nightfall—but it’s kind of a signature look for him.

“But if you tell me what you wished for,” he says, “then I could make it come true.”

“Really?” I lick blue frosting off my finger before I set the cupcake wrapper beside me. “What if I wished for a million dollars?”

“Then I’d get it for you.”

“How?”

He chuckles. “I don’t know. But I’d figure it out if that’s what you wanted.”

I swallow hard though I haven’t even taken a bite of the cake yet. “You really have to stop being so nice to me.” I take a dramatically large bite of mostly frosting and say the next part with a full mouth and good humor. “You’re gonna spoil me.”

Andrés nudges his shoulder against mine. “You can’t spoil someone who’s already spoiled, brat.”

The way he calls me brat makes my spine tingle and I don’t know why. I’m glad the sun is falling behind the mountain line and darkness creeps in to hide my flushed cheeks.

“Did you make this?” I ask, glancing over at him to find him watching me, his eyes on my mouth as my tongue swipes frosting from my bottom lip.

His eyes lift to meet mine and he smiles. “I did. Are you impressed?”

“I am. You wanna bite?” I hold out the remaining half of the cupcake in offering.

His thick, dark eyebrows knit together as he looks at it. “Yeah. Sure.” He leans in and takes a bite from the side at a strange angle and his lips brush against the top of my finger.

It makes me flinch, but not in a bad way. It’s because of the way my stomach tightens at his touch. Touch isn’t foreign between us, it’s always been there—hugs and side jabs and the occasional playful wrestle. It’s just that things have felt different lately.

Good different.

Scary different.

AUTHOR BIO

Brynn Ford is an author of dark and dirty romance for daring readers. She is a lover of the dark, twisted, and playful and strives to bring the unmentionable aspects of passionate romance into her stories.

Brynn resides in the Midwest with her husband and sons, whom she expects will someday be embarrassed by their mom’s books. When she isn’t obsessively writing, you may find her binge watching favorite shows while eating far too much junk food or fanatically reading, always seeking to lose herself in the emotional roller coaster of a damn good story.

She is quite the idealist, despite her fascination with the wicked and warped aspects of humanity. Some of her stories may run out of words before a happily ever after, but she’s a firm believer that her characters continue to live on outside the pages in the minds of her readers. Stories don’t end just because there aren’t any more pages to turn.

I knew the terms of the contract when I signed it.

For one year, my life isn’t mine.

For one year I am to obey, to be seen not heard.

For one year I’m theirs, mind, body, and soul.

The bodyguard. The fixer. The maniac. The boss.

Four men on a path to ruin me.

I may be theirs for a year, but the damage they plan on doing to me will last a lifetime. That’s if I even survive, because between the family and their enemies, the odds of me even making it past the end of winter are low.

This is the first book in a dark reverse harem contemporary romance series that will contain explicit language and graphic scenes. This series will contain triggering material such as dub con and non con. It is not for the faint of heart.

All the monsters I’ve survived and this one is going to be the one to destroy me.
Richard gets out of the car, slamming the door behind him as he rounds the hood to come stand beside me. I move away from him when he draws closer not wanting any false comfort or sympathy. If he so much as tries to hug me, I may completely flip out on him in this alleyway. I may say fuck it and let them kill him for my own freedom. And yet there’s no promise that they won’t take me anyway. I did sign a contract after all. Even if the legal capacity of that contract is in doubt.
I glance up at the sky, anything to not look at the car idling feet away. There’s not a single star in the sky tonight, as if even they knew to hide with the monsters out.
A car door opening catches my attention, making my body tense up even more. I continue to stare at the sky for a moment longer, but knowing that ignoring what is happening around me isn’t going to actually help, I finally drag my gaze back to reality.
The driver’s door of the car is open and there’s a bulky man, maybe just an inch over six feet, standing beside it. He almost looks like a bear with how wide broad he is. He slams the door shut before moving to the back door and pulling it open. It feels as if there’s a momentary pause between the man opening the door and another man actually getting out of the car. Though I know in reality that it’s only seconds. A tall frame folds out of the car, and as the man comes into view, my heart stops beating.
Giovanni Costa.
I’ve never met the man before, but even if I didn’t know that he now holds the contract to my life, I’d be able to recognise him. His reputation precedes him. The man radiates a power and dangerous energy that not many can impose. His black hair hangs just past his ears, a slight curl to the locks. His shoulders are broad and even with a coat on, I know that he’s packing a lot of muscle. His tan skin complements his hard angular face. Pink lips pulled into a frown that I can see even from all the way across the alleyway.
The other man closes the door before letting Giovanni move in front of him.
Giovanni’s steps are long and calculated, each step imprinting a footprint in the white snow.
He’ll leave imprints on my soul next.
And unlike with the snow, the marks won’t blow away with the next breeze, it’ll be permanent.

STASIA BLACK

STASIA BLACK grew up in Texas, recently spent a freezing five-year stint in Minnesota, and now is happily planted in sunny California, which she will never, ever leave.
She loves writing, reading, listening to podcasts, and has recently taken up biking after a twenty-year sabbatical (and has the bumps and bruises to prove it). She lives with her own personal cheerleader, aka, her handsome husband, and their teenage son. Wow. Typing that makes her feel old. And writing about herself in the third person makes her feel a little like a nutjob, but ahem! Where were we?
Stasia’s drawn to romantic stories that don’t take the easy way out. She wants to see beneath people’s veneer and poke into their dark places, their twisted motives, and their deepest desires. Basically, she wants to create characters that make readers alternately laugh, cry ugly tears, want to toss their kindles across the room, and then declare they have a new FBB (forever book boyfriend).
